    From the Publisher
This manual is ideal for the engineering student or the practicing engineer who doesn't have much free time to devote to studying for the FE exam. The text is short and to the point, providing basic theory and relevant formulas and data for each exam topic. Each chapter can be easily covered in an hour or two. This review, coupled with over 1,000 FE-style practice problems and a full-scale practice exam, offers all the preparation needed to pass the test.

From "How to Use This Book"

The most successful strategy to pass the FE exam is to prepare in all of the examination subjects. Do not limit the number of subjects you study in hope of finding enough questions in your particular areas of knowledge to pass.

Fast recall and stamina are essential to doing well. You must be able to quickly recall solution procedures, formulas, and important data. You will not have time during the exam to derive solution methods--you must know them instinctively. This ability must be maintained for eight hours. When you are using this book to prepare for the FE exam, the best way to develop fast recall and stamina is to work the practice problems at the end of the chapters. Be sure to gain familiarity with the NCEES FE Reference Handbook by using it as your reference for the problems you work.

In order to get exposure to all examination subjects, it is imperative that you develop and adhere to a review schedule. If you are not taking a classroom review course (where the order of your preparation is determined by your instructor), prepare your own review schedule. For example, plan on covering this book at the rate of one chapter per day in order to finish before the examination date.

It will be helpful to make a few simple decisions prior to starting your review. You should be aware of the different options available to you. For example, you should decide early on to: (1) use SI (metric) units in your preparation; (2) perform electrical calculations with effective (rms) or maximum values; (3) take calculations out to a maximum of four significant digits; and (4) prepare in all exam subjects, not just your specialty areas.

Buy this book and do what it says5
I bought this book to prepare for the October 2008 FE Exam. I recommend it to anyone who is serious about taking the test. Buy this book. Do what it says. Start studying as far in advance as you can (I recommend 4-5 months). If you follow this book and work every practice problem in it, you will pass. Even if you have been out of school for a while like I have. It is very well put together, and it goes over all the concepts on the test. It is formatted so that you familiarize yourself with the references that you actually can use during the test. I highly recommend this book.

    Good, Maybe Too Good.4
This is by far the most complete FE review manual I've ever seen or heard of. Which is also the downfall of this book. This book is in no way, shape, or form, a cram manual. It requires you to start studying it about 3-5 months in advance and spend a week or so on each lesson. This may not be needed if you are currently in school getting ready to take the FE Exam but if you're not and you've been out a couple of years or even months, then this book is perfect. It goes through most if not all the types of problems from your first couple of years taking general studies courses in engineering. Going to school full-time and trying to study this book is hard to do especially when it comes to working the problems. This book is very comprehensive. It gives detailed explanations for the answers at the end of the sections and includes some practice tests and how long you should spend on each problem. I passed the FE the first time with going to school-administered review sessions and using this book as a reference. From the parts that I did do in this book, I can say that if you are able to get a good overview of this book, then you really should pass the FE with no problem. This is probably the best book but it is only for the truly dedicated person who will at least skim through this book and try to get some understanding about its topics. My advice for the FE is to study math a lot, basic civil and mechanical engineering problems, and make sure you master your discipline, which really shouldn't be too big of a problem. I fully recommend this book with the warning that you should get it way in advance (3-5 months) of the test date. It's the best you can get, but it is also very thorough also.

FE Review Manual integral to proper exam preparation5
I used this book exclusively to prepare for the FE exam after being 6 years out of undergrad and passed the first time. See my full comments on blog.jasonrlight.com.
